MILD STEEL METAL SPINNING
Mild steel is often referred to as carbon steel or plain steel and is renowned for it’s strength and durability. Mild Steel is the go-to metal for many metal spun produucts because of its relatively low cost and workability. Mild steel does not harden like stainless does, so it offers some similarities to working with aluminium
Metspin has 40+ experience spinning steel parts for companies like Boeing, Airbus & Rolls Royce. Our team of highly skilled spinners offer 300+ years of combined expertise.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF SPINNING MILD STEEL?
Mild steel is very strong due to its low carbon contents. This means that mild steel has a high resistance to breakage. When compared with higher carbon steel, mild steel is more malleable, even when cold. This gives it a high high tensile and impact strength. Higher carbon steels such as stainless steel will often shatter or crack under stress, while mild steel merely bends or deforms.
- Easier to work with than stainless
- Cost affective in comparison with other steels
- High toughness and high strength
- 100% Recyclable
- Does not harden when heated
